Before you install anything on the site, you can check the Meta details are right. The test sends one event straight from Pixel Relay to Meta and shows you Meta's answer.
- Step 1: On the website's settings page, find Meta credentials.
- Step 2: Optional. Paste the test code from Events Manager, Test events, so the event shows up there.
- Step 3: Pick the kind of event to send.
- Step 4: Click Send test event. Meta answers within a few seconds, and the result appears right here.
Steps
- Open Websites and click the website's name.
- Optional: in Meta Events Manager, open the pixel's Test events tab and copy the code under Test server events, like
TEST12345. Paste it into Test event code. - Under Send a test event, pick PageView, Lead or Purchase.
- Click Send test event.
The test uses the values in the form as they are now, even before you save. So you can paste a new token, test it, and only save once it works.
Reading the result
- Meta accepted the test event. The credentials work. You see how many events Meta received and its trace ID. With a test event code, the event also appears in Meta's Test events tab within a minute.
- Meta rejected the test event. The message is Meta's own. The usual causes are a mistyped Pixel ID, a token generated for a different pixel, or an expired token.
The test code is only used here
Live events from your site never carry the test event code, so they always count as real conversions. You can leave the code in place.
