The access token is the password Pixel Relay uses to deliver events to your pixel. Meta generates it for one pixel.
Steps
- In Meta Events Manager, select the pixel and open Settings.
- Scroll to Conversions API and find Set up direct integration.
- Click Generate access token. You may need to be an admin of the pixel.
- Copy the token. It is a long string starting with
EAA. Meta shows it once, so paste it somewhere safe straight away. - Paste it into the website's Conversions API access token field in Pixel Relay, or send it securely to your account team.
Keep it secret
Anyone with the token can send events to your pixel. Never put it in your website's code or a public file. In Pixel Relay it is stored encrypted and only used on the server.
When the token stops working
Meta revokes tokens when the person who created them loses access to the business, or when the pixel's permissions change. Events then fail with an error mentioning access token or OAuth. Generate a new token, paste it into the website's settings and save. See Failed events.
